Have you ever wondered “what’s up with him” or the more likely “what the hell is wrong with her?” after an encounter with your boss? Yeah, me too! In this series we have been discussing the signs that your boss is just not that into you. But, more importantly, we're discussing potential why's and what to do about it! If you missed the first 2 signs, be sure to go back and check them out. For now, here is the 3rd sign.
Sign #3: My boss talks about his ex (employee that is) all the time!
He brings up the previous person who had your job all the time. Nothing worse than a man or woman who is always bringing up their ex right?! Same thing applies at work. If your boss is constantly talking about and comparing you to the person who had your job before, it can be both annoying and deflating.
This is one of those situations where a conversation should definitely take place. Perhaps your manager does not realize what he is doing. Maybe bringing it to their attention will make it stop. If it does not, pay close attention to the comparisons. Are you not meeting their expectations when it comes to getting the work done or how you carry it out?
Dissect the most important issues and then sit down with your manager to discuss those areas and not necessarily a discussion about the previous incumbent. This is a great way to take control of your own performance management. On the other hand, it could be a sign that it is time to find another job.
As always, I am here to help you figure out the best course of action as you deal with difficult situations in the workplace. Come visit me at myzolve.com or download the app today!
